WHAT IS AN SPR-MIC MINOR'S TRUST?

When the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Council approved gaming on community land, the Council also approved paying to all community members a portion of the net gaming revenue, called "per capita payments."  Per capita payments are to advance the personal health, education and welfare of community members. For children who are minors (less than 18 years old) their per capita payments are paid into an SRP-MIC Minor’s Trust and held for them until they turn 18 years old.  Some money may be paid from these trusts while the children are minors, for their health, education and welfare.

WHAT IS AT THIS INTERNET SITE?

This site is designed to help you learn more about these trusts, whether you are the parent or guardian of a minor child, or an adult who has a Minor's Trust in place for you.  The four main menus at the top of the page will direct you to the following:  the "Help for Minors" Menu gives explanations to parents or guardians about how a trust works for minor children; the "Help for 18 and Over" explains how tribal members now 18 or older who have their own Minor's Trust may  begin receiving money from the trust; the "Account Balance" Menu will lead to the site for viewing the investments and balance of an account; and the "Documents and Taxes" Menu provides a way to view or print some of the pamphlets and forms your may need, and what tax forms you need to consider.
